How big a garden does your family need?
Plants-per-person figures are common rules of thumb from extension planting guides; your yields will vary with variety, soil, water and season. Start smaller if you are new — a well-tended small garden beats a weedy big one.
Plan It Before You Build It
Start a plan for a garden bed, a barn or coop, or your whole property. Pick a crop, a pen or a building and paint it onto the grid.
